Teaching Preferences Form
Teaching assignments are distributed such that most, if not all, faculty members contribute both at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels, that they teach a core, team-taught studio (i.e. service teaching), as well as a single section or option studio whenever possible (i.e. more aligned to their specific expertise and research interests), and a recurring core or speculative 0.5 credit course at either the Undergraduate or Graduate levels. Consideration is also given to class size, with the expectation that all Faculty members should be, at minimum, teaching no less than 120 students annually. This could include a large undergraduate or graduate studio (50 to 90 students), a small studio (15 to 30), and a core or elective undergraduate or graduate course (25 to 90 or even 130 students or more for cross-listed or piggy-backed courses). Most faculty teach two studios and a 0.5 credit courses, with some exceptions – to be established in conversation with the faculty member. Each faculty member will have the opportunity to discuss their preferences in a meeting with the Director before the teaching assignments are finalized.
