Master of Architecture (M.Arch 1) Course Exemption Request Form

This form is to be used by master’s students in the first year of the 3-year program to request a review of previously completed university level courses that the student feels may exempt them from an M.Arch program requirement(s). Requests will be reviewed by the department and the student will be notified of the decision. Submission of all required information is mandatory otherwise the request may not be reviewed.

ARCH 5331 Exemption Request

Students who have previously completed Carleton University’s ARCH 2300: Introduction to Modern Architecture are eligible for exemption from ARCH 5331 Modernism and Global Urbanism. Note that students must have received a B- or above in the course. Students from other academic institutions who have completed a minimum of three history/theory architecture courses may be eligible for exemption from ARCH 5331, following a review of relevant syllabi and transcripts.

ARCH 5221 Exemption Request

Students who have previously completed Carleton University’s ARCC 2202: Architectural Technology 1 are eligible for exemption from ARCH 5221: Ecological & Regulatory Systems. Note that students must have received a B- or above in the course. Students from other academic institutions who have completed a similar course in their undergraduate degree may be eligible for exemption from ARCH 5221, following a review of relevant syllabi and transcripts.
