Faysal Tabbarah
Associate Professor
Faysal Tabbarah joined Carleton University as an associate professor with a specialization in design and building technology in July, 2024.
He most recently served as an Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Architecture at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
At the University of Sharjah, Tabbarah’s teaching and research interrogated the potential of activating material and environmental practices in Southwest Asia and North Africa. The goal was to drive innovative contemporary design and building solutions by exploring context-driven modes of production, alternative material systems, and the relationship between environmental and architectural imaginaries.
He holds a Master of Architecture from the Architectural Association Design Research Lab (AADRL), United Kingdom.
Tabbarah also curated the National Pavilion UAE’s exhibition, “Aridly Abundant,” for the 2023 Venice Biennale in Architecture.
