Ali Navidbakhsh

Contract Instructor

Ali Navidbakhsh, OAA, GSC, LEED Green Associate, RELi AP, is a co-founder and principal Architect at Site-Arch Inc. a private practice operating in Ontario and Québec. He is an Architect, Landscape Designer, and a Certified Passive House Builder. He is currently a project manager at McDonald Brothers Construction (MBC). He previously worked at Perkins+Will, IDEA Inc., and The VentinGroup Architects, before joining the Project management team at McDonald Brothers Construction. He holds a B.Arch (2014) and M.Arch (2016) both with distinction and was awarded the Azrieli Scholar and Faculty Choice award for his thesis titled: Post-Petropolis: Alberta after the Oil Boom. Ali’s research addresses the story of conflicting natural and artificial landscapes while engaging with multi-stakeholder views, from divinity and indigenous Land to human-scale interventions. Ali has worked at Architecture offices in Toronto, Ottawa, and Lisbon Portugal. During his studies at ASAU, He also worked as a research assistant and a teaching assistant for both undergraduate and graduate courses. Further to his full-time career, Ali actively engages in independent research and international competitions, including winning first place in the Sea-Can Container Design Competition and Housing for Northern Communities competition in 2016 and earning first place and the People’s Choice Award in the Future Legacies Competition – Design for Canada’s Next 150 Years, hosted by The Site Magazine in 2018. His research interests revolve around science fiction, affordable housing, and real estate development.
