The Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism (ASAU) will host a career fair called Shop | Talk on Thursday, November 7, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Architecture Building.
All ASAU students are invited to attend this inaugural event that brings together employers, professionals, and Carleton University architecture students. It takes place in the Pit, the Street, and Room 204.
Shop | Talk is open to all our students, but it is specifically organized for those who are seeking their first co-op placement.
Students will have an opportunity to see the broad range of trajectories their professional path can take. Prospective employers and practitioners will give short presentations and share what they are looking for when hiring co-op students or recently graduated design students.
This event will provide a unique opportunity for employers to speak with talented and motivated architecture and urbanism students looking to enter the job market.
SCHEDULE
- Noon to 3:00 p.m. — Employers will give PechaKucha style presentations (10 slides and 20 seconds per slide), presenting their firm and key projects to students.
- 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. — Employers will have dedicated tables at the career fair and will engage directly with students to outline their work and specialties and answer questions.
- 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. — This portion of the event is geared toward preparing students for co-op, with sessions on portfolios and interviewing. Employers are invited to stay and contribute to the discussion.
