Prof. Lisa Moffitt appointed to TAD Journal editorial board

Aug 01, 2024

Associate Professor Lisa Moffit has joined the editorial board of the TAD Journal, where she will help determine the scope and content of the international, peer-reviewed journal, for a three-year term.

TAD, which stands for Technology | Architecture + Design, is a journal of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA). It is dedicated to the advancement of scholarship in building technology and its translation, integration, and impact on architecture and design.

The 15-member editorial board comprises faculty members from universities across the United States, as well as Canada, Greece, Spain, and Sweden. The board operates the journal, both print and web versions, and sets policies.

“Lisa’s appointment speaks to the importance of her work in that field, especially on regenerative building materials and climate adaptation, and her critical contributions as a design researcher and scholar,” says Professor Anne Bordeleau, director of the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism.

Dr. Moffitt is an associate professor and associate director of graduate programs at the school.

Her research uses physical models, prototypes, and material experiments to visualize processes and impacts associated with climate change.

Moffitt’s latest book, Architecture’s Model Environments, was released in 2023 as part of UCL Press’s Design Research in Architecture series. It expands on histories of building technology to shed new light on how physical models, conventionally understood as engineering experimentation devices, enable architectural design speculation about atmospheric mediation.

Her current research focuses on documenting Canadian sites of accelerated climate change and on honing methods for designing with regenerative building materials.

Dr. Bordeleau notes that now two faculty members are on editorial boards. Professor Ozayr Saloojee is the Associate Director of Design at the Journal of Architectural Education, (JAE),also produced by the ACSA.

“It’s wonderful to see such great representation from the school on ACSA’s two well-regarded publications, the JAE and TAD,” she says.
