Exceptional Leadership Through Design Excellence: Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) and Truth & Reconciliation Ontario Architectural Association (OAA) Scholarship

The OAA Scholarships are intended to recognize exceptional leadership through design excellence combined with exemplary approaches to projects and/or assignments as they relate to equity, diversity, and inclusion and/or Truth and Reconciliation. Two of these scholarships will be awarded to two individual students in any year of an undergraduate or graduate program at each of the five Ontario University Schools of Architecture.

Undergraduate and Graduate students do not need to apply. Students are automatically considered. These scholarships are valued at $2,500 each. 

IBI Group – Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Scholarship (DIB) (*External Award)

The Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DIB) Scholarship rewards students who self-identify as Black with a $5,000 scholarship at six partner universities across Canada and the United States. This scholarship is one of many IBI Group programs aimed at increasing internal gender representation and diversity and in turn fostering an environment where everyone is encouraged to be themselves and achieve a sense of belonging. IBI Group wants to reward Black students for their scholastic achievements, while introducing them to the vast opportunities at IBI Group upon graduation.

Bachelor of Master degree students must apply for this scholarship on the IBI Group website. Open to undergraduate and master’s students. This award is valued at $5,000.

Jacques and Helene Sabourin Memorial Scholarship

Awarded annually, on the recommendation of the Director of the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism, to the student showing the greatest proficiency in a course devoted to lighting for architecture.  Donated by the Illuminating Engineering Society and its members in memory of Jacques and Helene Sabourin who were active in the field of illumination and who tragically lost their lives in an automobile accident in 1984. Endowed 1985.

Undergraduate and Graduate students do not need to apply, as they are automatically considered based on coursework completed. This scholarship is valued at $1,600. Value may vary.

RAIC International Prize Scholarship (*External Award)

The RAIC International Prize Scholarships are awarded in conjunction with the RAIC International Prize. The RAIC International Prize Scholarships are open to students registered in a Canadian architecture program at any point in the period between the submission deadline for the previous cycle of the RAIC International Prize Scholarships and the submission deadline of the current cycle. Up to three scholarships are awarded. The award of the Scholarships will be based on submissions from individual students that address a defined topic in the form of an original essay in English or French, maximum 1,000 words in length, with illustrations that complement and clarify ideas explored in the text.

Undergraduate and Graduate students must apply on the RAIC website. This scholarship is valued at $5,000.
