Prizes – Undergraduate and Graduate

Cyril M. Leeder Prize in Urban Design

The Cyril M. Leeder Prize is awarded annually to students making an outstanding contribution to Urban Design who are either in their third or fourth years of the Bachelor of Architectural Studies program or in their first year of the Masters program. The Prize will be awarded following a juried competition. The entries for the competition must present architectural ideas and concepts for either a single building that demonstrates exceptional relationships at the human scale to its neighbourhood or a broad scale development proposal that acknowledges its surroundings in a way that enhances the public room.

Students in the third and fourth years of the BAS and the first year of the MArch are invited to participate in a juried competition. Value may vary.

Murray and Murray Prize

The Murray and Murray Prize is awarded annually to a graduate or undergraduate student in the M.Arch or BAS program at Carleton University following a juried competition. The competition challenges students to develop and present an architectural idea through hand-drawn drawing and to demonstrate an exceptional ability in using scaled and rendered drawings that include the conventions of plan, section and elevation. The competition takes place in the first week of the fall term and celebrates the beginning of a new school year. Endowed in 2003 by friends, family and colleagues of Tim and Pat Murray.

BAS and MArch students must enter a competition in the first week of the academic year to be considered. Value may vary ($5,000-7,000).
