Awards – Undergraduate and Graduate

CISC Excellence Award in Steel Design

Awarded annually, to an undergraduate student in the Fourth year of the Bachelor of Architectural Studies program or a graduate student in the Master of Architecture program, studying the use and design of steel structures. Eligible students must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada (landed immigrants or a protected persons). Should the recipient be a graduate student, the award will be awarded by the Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs, on the recommendation of the Director of the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism. The Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) promotes the use and benefits of steel in construction, adds value to the construction and design community and supports the needs of the membership and industry through education and training, research and development, industry codes and standards, certification and advocacy.

Fourth year Bachelor of Architectural Studies students and Master of Architecture students do not need to apply, as they are automatically considered. Value may vary (about $3,000 awarded annually to students).

ORSA (Ottawa Regional Society of Architects) Annual Student Award

This award is presented to a student who has demonstrated initiative and participation in community and school activities. Designed to encourage student involvement in the community, the annual program awards a cheque and a year’s free membership to the Society to a student nominated by faculty of the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism. The nominee must be a student registered in a degree program offered by Carleton University’s Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism; the nominee must have demonstrated initiative and active voluntary participation in community activities. Awarded at graduation.

Graduate and Undergraduate students do not need to apply, as they are automatically considered.

Ottawa Urban Design Award – Student Project Category (*External Award)

The Ottawa Urban Design Awards is a biennial awards program that celebrates projects in the City of Ottawa that achieve urban design excellence. Open call staged every other year (2013, 2015, etc.). Winners of an Award of Excellence will be sent forward as the Ottawa entry to the National Urban Design Awards competition.

Undergraduate and Graduate students must apply on the City of Ottawa website. This award does not have a monetary value.
