Date: Monday, January 20, 2020
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Venue: The Alma Duncan Room, Ottawa Art Gallery
Speaker: Lisa Rapoport, PLANT Architect Inc
Lecture: Between the Cracks
Free and open to the public.
Presented in partnership with the Forum Founding Sponsors.
Continuing with the theme of “Cities and Landscapes in Common”, the lecture features Lisa Rapoport from PLANT Architect Inc, an award-winning Toronto firm that designs public space in the margins – in tiny remnants of ‘no man’s land’, in the murky edges of established parks and squares where public life falters.
In Ottawa, Lisa heads the design team for With Words as their Actions, a public artwork for Lyon Station, on Ottawa’s new Confederation Line LRT transit corridor.
Lisa’s lecture “Between the Cracks” will present highlights of her firm’s compelling and original urban work. In a range of work from the tiny ‘Tête à Tête’ to Nathan Phillips Square, she will discuss how these projects create a broader network of thriving public space with social, cultural and ecological impact.
