Cross-Appointed Prof. Mario Santana Quintero elected as Secretary-General of ICOMOS

Cross-Appointed Prof. Mario Santana Quintero has been elected as Secretary-General of the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). Click here to read the announcement on the ICOMOS website.

Santana-Quintero is an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, cross-appointed with the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism, He is also the Director of the NSERC Create program Heritage Engineering based at the Carleton immersive Media Studio Lab (CIMS). 

ICOMOS works for the conservation and protection of cultural heritage places. 

Santana Quintero is the third member of ICOMOS Canada to be elected secretary-general and second from Carleton University. As Secretary-General he works with the President on the preparation of meetings, with the Director-General on the Secretariat’s direction and operation and with the Treasurer General on the budgets, among many other important managerial activities crucial for ICOMOS.
