Ushma Thakrar

Ushma Thakrar is a PhD student at ASAU. Her current research explores practices of cleaning and space-making, as well as roles of disgust and the politics of recognition in shaping architecture. She holds a MA in History and Critical Thinking in Architecture from the Architectural Association and a MS in Urban Planning from Columbia University, as well as a BAS in Design from Carleton University. Ushma has previously taught architecture studios and seminars at the University of Waterloo and the Architectural Association, and she has worked as an editor for a number of publications and cultural institutions, including the Canadian Centre for Architecture, arc en rêve centre d’architecture, and the Remai Modern.
