Project Description
This artifact is a representation of a location’s archived histories inspired by an archeological. A “digital dig” by cutting and wrapping through photographs, newspaper articles, and city notices revealing only a sliver of each layer achieves a manipulation of the data based on the positioning of the papers and the bias of the creator. Referencing my thesis which deals with the topic of demolition as a tool to erase Black histories, this artefact compresses the layers of history and stories that make up a place revealing only the fragments that are left behind.
